Privacy Policy

Your usage data never leaves your Mac. The apps and sites you limit, your daily limits, how long you spent where, your pickups, focus sessions, streaks and any unlock photos you choose to keep are stored locally by the app. For site limits the app reads the address of the tab you are on, never the contents of the page. Delete the app and its data and all of that is gone.

When you unlock with a photo, your phone sends the image to our server for a yes-or-no outdoors check, and the image is discarded after the verdict. We do not keep a library of your photos. The check is done by an AI model from a third-party provider (Google's Gemini API or OpenAI's API, depending on which is in service), so the image is also handled under Google's or OpenAI's privacy policy for that request.

To activate and keep a license valid, the app sends your license key, an identifier and name for the Mac it is running on, and the app version. It checks for updates by sending its version and update channel. If you send feedback from the app, we receive your message, the app and macOS versions, your email if you add one, and a screenshot if you attach one.

TouchGrass is bought on this website. Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. When you buy, we receive what is needed to deliver and manage your license: your email, payment status, and subscription or transaction identifiers. We email you a license key and store enough to validate it, manage billing and prevent obvious abuse. We do not sell your email.

If you leave your email to hear when the Mac app is out, we store that address and where on the site you signed up, and use it to tell you about the launch. Email us to be removed.

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. Our servers log basic request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and uptime, and keep short-lived counters to slow down abuse of forms and logins. We do not run ad trackers or sell visitor lists.

We use a small set of providers to run the product: an AI provider for photo checks, Paddle for payments, an email delivery service, website hosting and a database, and Google Analytics. They process data only to provide those services to us, under their own policies.

Verification photos: not kept after the check. Data on your Mac: until you delete it. Early-access emails: until launch news has been sent or you ask us to remove you. Billing and license records: kept as long as needed for subscriptions, taxes, fraud prevention and legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized when we reasonably can.
